Course Description+
Students will receive an introduction to public speaking by learning research, writing, and speaking techniques designed to make them successful communicators and give them a foundation for competitive Speech & Debate. The course is taught by nationally recognized speech and debate coaches.
This 3-week semester course is offered for first time credit, for credit grade replacement, or for non-credit enrichment in preparation for taking the course in the future. Please check with your school regarding credit from outside institutions.

Meet Bo Lint+
Bo Lint earned his Master of Arts in Political Science from the University of West Florida. A former competitor himself, Bo is now the Director of Speech and Debate at American Heritage School. Bo teaches the junior high and high school courses at both the introductory and advanced levels. Bo's students have reached elimination rounds or championed tournaments such as Yale, Florida Blue Key, the Glenbrooks, George Mason, Harvard, NCFL Nationals, and the NSDA National Tournament. He specializes in Congressional Debate, Extemporaneous Speaking, and Original Oratory.
Meet Stephanie Anderson+
Stephanie Anderson currently teaches English courses at the junior and high school levels. She also coaches the lower school and junior high Speech and Debate Team on the Palm Beach Campus and is enjoying being part of our award-winning team. Prior to joining the American Heritage faculty, Stephanie was A.D. Henderson/FAU High School's District Teacher of the Year for 2020-2021. She earned her Master’s Degree in English from the University of Michigan.
Additional Course Information+
A class may be canceled if fewer than 6 students enroll, and a specific teacher is not guaranteed. It is the parents’ responsibility to check with their child's school when seeking credit for a course. For online courses, the students’ cameras MUST be turned on at all times, and attendance is mandatory. To protect the privacy rights of all, there is absolutely no videotaping or recording by students during the course. Students must be age appropriate for the course, and all students must adhere to proper online etiquette. For online courses, young children must be supervised by a parent at all times.
