Course Description+
Math for College Readiness strenghtens the skill level of high school students. The content includes functions and relations, polynomials, rational expressions and equations, quadratic equations, logarithmic and exponential functions, matrices, simple and compound interest, and vocabulary. Upon completion of this course, students should be adequately prepared to achieve a passing score on the college level entrance exam known as the Postsecondary Educational Readiness Test, commonly referred to as P.E.R.T..
Prerequisite: Succesful completion of Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry
This 6-week course is offered for first time credit, for credit grade replacement, or for non-credit enrichment in preparation for taking the course in the future. Please check with your school regarding credit from outside institutions.

Meet Alen Vartan+
Alen Vartan is an upper school math teacher at American Heritage. He's been teaching math to grades seven through twelve since 2001. He's earned a Bachelors of Arts in Education from Florida Atlantic University and a Masters in Administration and Supervision in Education from University of Phoenix. He also is an experienced wrestling coach and a veteran. He was hired to teach Geometry at American Heritage in 2003; since then, he has taught students mathematical topics such as: pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, precalculus and money management.
Additional Course Information+
A class may be canceled if fewer than 6 students enroll, and a specific teacher is not guaranteed. It is the parents’ responsibility to check with their child's school when seeking credit for a course. For online courses, the students’ cameras MUST be turned on at all times, and attendance is mandatory. To protect the privacy rights of all, there is absolutely no videotaping or recording by students during the course. Students must be age appropriate for the course, and all students must adhere to proper online etiquette. For online courses, young children must be supervised by a parent at all times.
