Course Description+

Students who are working below grade level entering fourth grade will benefit greatly from our customized curriculum designed to give individual attention to each student. Literacy, math, and higher-order thinking skills are reinforced using best practices, a variety of teaching techniques, and specific material tailored to each student's skill level, including exposure to Language Arts, Reading and Math. Executive functioning is incorporated daily, including study skills, organization, and problem solving.

Session 1A: 6/10/24 - 6/28/24 (8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.) (EST)
Session 2A: 7/01/24 - 7/19/24 (8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.) (EST) - Closed 7/04/24
Session 3A: 7/22/24 - 8/09/24 (8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.) (EST)

Each session is unique, so your child will benefit from taking more than one session.

Meet Melissa Hildebrandt+

Ms. Hildebrandt has taught fourth and fifth grade at American Heritage Schools for five years. This is her second year teaching at our Summer Institute. Ms.Hildebrandt graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and grew up in upstate New York. Ms.Hildebrandt loves to bring positivity, excitement, and fun hands-on activities into her lessons.

Meet Jayme McMahon+

Jayme McMahon is currently a faculty member at American Heritage School. She earned a MS in Special Education for Birth-12th grade from Long Island University. She has been teaching for 10 years and has taught grades kindergarten through 8th grade. She has taught the lower school enrichment courses for the Summer Institute for 5 years.

Meet Lauren Kramer+

Lauren Kramer is a veteran teacher with 20 years of teaching experience. For the past eight years she has taught at American Heritage School and has been Director of Reading for the last five years. She runs Cover to Cover, a campus book club. She was voted Teacher of the Year in 2015. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and a Master of Education in Reading, with additional certification in ESOL (K-12). She is in the process of completing her National Board Certification.

Additional Course Information+

A class may be canceled if fewer than 6 students enroll, and a specific teacher is not guaranteed. It is the parents’ responsibility to check with their child's school when seeking credit for a course. For online courses, the students’ cameras MUST be turned on at all times, and attendance is mandatory. To protect the privacy rights of all, there is absolutely no videotaping or recording by students during the course. Students must be age appropriate for the course, and all students must adhere to proper online etiquette. For online courses, young children must be supervised by a parent at all times.
