Course Description+

Musical Theatre Camp is an intensive co-ed program for the child who is interested in the dramatic arts. The program features experienced professionals teaching classes in voice, dance, acting, set design, and make-up. At the end of each four-week program, campers present a production. A healthy lunch, snack, popsicle, swim, and other regular day camp activities are included daily. Although our specialty camps have a range of different aged campers all campers are grouped with other campers closest to their age. Our energetic and fully-trained staff are carefully selected based on experience, character, and leadership. Every staff member is background checked, as we continue to maintain the highest level of safety and security on campus.

Meet Director Michael Schneider+

Director Michael Schneider is currently the Choir and Musical Theater Director for AHS Boca/Delray. Professional credits include: Summer and Smoke (NYC), 54 Forever (World Premier, directed by Tommy Tune), In Love and Waiting: The Story of Penelope and Odysseus (Boston, MA), Nice Work If You Can Get It (Broward Stage Door), Victor/Victoria (Broward Stage Door), Smokey Joes Cafe (Broward Stage Door). Film/TV: Grachi! (Nickelodeon Studios), Tenterhooks. Graduate of the University of Miami's department of theater arts and MBA recipient from Nova Southeastern University.

Meet Assistant Director Julie Struhl+

Assistant Director Julie Struhl is entering her 9th year of working with theater arts at American Heritage. Julie is the Assistant Fine Arts Director at American Heritage during the school year and is the organizer of all shows, concerts, and events for elementary students through high school grades.There is always excitement working behind the scenes on our numerous performances, collaborating with our top-notch staff and seeing these amazing and talented students compete across the US in both performance and visual arts! Julie loves to get her hands dirty while helping to build sets or doing all of the performers makeup, hair and costumes.

Meet Assistant Director Clay Cartland+

Assistant Director Clay Cartland is a Florida native and an award winning actor. Most recently Clay was seen in Shrek and Groundhog Day at the Broward Center for the performing arts. Mr. Cartland is also a proud member of Actors Equity and the recipient of 2 Carbonell and 4 Silver Awards. Mr. Cartland can be found in the classroom teaching Lower School Music at American Heritage but before that he worked professionally all over the state. Some favorite shows include: 25th...Spelling Bee, Desperate Measures, Flashdance, 1776, Peter and the Starcatcher, and First Date. Mr. Cartland is also a voice over artist and teaches improv comedy.

Additional Course Information+

Camper groupings vary by program. Day Camp programs will be grouped by age/grade/gender, Specialty Programs are grouped together by age, interest, and/ or skill level. Programs are not guaranteed and require a minimum enrollment. Campers are supervised at all times by our energetic and fully-trained staff. Our counselors are carefully selected based on experience, character, and leadership. Every staff member is background checked, as we continue to maintain the highest level of safety and security on campus. At American Heritage Day Camp we do our very best to make sure our staff is placed with the appropriate age group to ensure a successful and fun summer.
